By Jesse Kelley

BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA - January 24, 2025

UAB signee Salim London of nearby Hoover High School continues his stellar play to the 2024-25 season. Starting at shooting guard for the No. 1 team in the state of Alabama, London has led the Buccaneers to an overall record of 25-0 and helped claim the 7A Area 6 Championship earlier this week. On Tuesday, London was nominated to be a member of the East team for the 2025 McDonald’s All-American game along with Tennessee signee and fellow Hoover teammate, DeWayne Brown II.

According to 247 Sports, London is the No. 4 player in Alabama and the No. 41 shooting guard in the country. Other national recruiting sites like ESPN have London as the No. 3 player in the state, No. 26 shooting guard and the No. 36 player in the Southeast Region. London is also tabbed by On3’s Industry Rankings as the No. 13 combo guard in the country.

Hoover basketball has been on a dominating run over the past three seasons, as the Bucs continue to make a push for back-to-back-to-back 7A titles. Son of former Alabama point guard Tarik London, Salim gained state-wide attention in the 2023 state title game when he led Hoover to a 84-66 over Central-Phenix City to help the Bucs claim their first blue map since 2015. London went for 34 total points and finished that night against the Red Devils 13-of-19 from the field on the way to earning MVP of the entire tournament. Fast forward to his senior campaign, London continues to add to his impressive prep-career, as the senior is currently averaging 17 points per game and leads a Hoover squad that is ranked No. 4 nationally in Maxpreps’ Top-25 Poll and No. 23 in ESPN’s National High School Rankings.

The Bucs are currently on a road trip in Anchorage, Alaska, taking part in the 2025 Alaska Airlines Classic. Hoover defeated Service High School last night, 69-26 which included a dominant first half with Hoover up 50-8 going into the intermission. Hoover is back in action tonight against Heritage Christian Academy out of Granada Hills, California. The contest is slated for 9 p.m. CT tip and can be viewed here. The Banner staff will continue to monitor both London and the Hoover Bucs for the remainder of the AHSAA season as they aim for three state championships in a row.
